New High Flow Smart Biogas is Here

Smart Biogas was launched in 2021 with the ability to monitor biogas flows of up to 2 m3/hour. This is enough to capture flows from household biodigesters. However, the biogas market is increasingly diverse. Our customers are using larger digesters - not only to provide gas for cooking, but also to run engines to generate electricity, to make gas for bottling, and for firing up biogas grids. It is fantastic to see this innovation; the long-discussed potential of biogas starting to be met.

Our customers have asked us to keep pace with them. Many of them want and require metering solutions that go beyond the scale of household digesters, and of course we want to support them. For that reason our product development team has been cooking up an improved version of Smart Biogas. The improved version can measure flow of up to 22 m3/hour - more than a ten-fold increase! We have also increased the maximum pressure readings from 10kPa to 50kPa. The new release forms part of the Smart Biogas Standard Range.

This means that Smart Biogas can cover a much wider range of use-cases, but it’s only the start.

What’s coming next?
- A new range (“Smart Biogas Raw Range”) for harsher biogas environments where moisture traps and scrubbers cannot be used or are not fully effective.
- The new range will allow measurement of flows up to 62 m3/hour and pressure up to 5,000 kPa.
- The Raw Range will be released incrementally, the full anticipated product line-up is here.
